The VH R-10 gHouse is a prototype for guesthouses in the Town of Tisbury (Vineyard Haven) on the island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. The design objective of the house is three fold: to maximize the restrictive zoning envelope; to combine building techniques with modified conventional building systems; to create a high performance design for the climatic and programmatic conditions of Martha’s Vineyard, The house attempts to poetically synthesize and optimize these three objectives as an alternative to the ubiquitous Cape design.
